Send us clean art and we'll send back a clean die.
Overview
Email usually arrives in minutes, but during busy periods it can take longer.
Our graphics department works on macOS systems with full cross-platform capability, so files from Mac or Windows are both fine.
Accepted file types
Vector artwork gives the cleanest result. Mac and Windows files are both fine.

Submitting work
- Save your file(s) in one of the recommended file types.
- Email the file(s) or upload them with the quote form.
- Include only the image(s) required for engraving.
- Make sure artwork is 100% black and white — no grey or color tones.
- Images should be 100% scale to size and right-reading. Note if different.
- Include all fonts and support files.
- Vector art is recommended for the cleanest artwork.
- Scanned artwork must be 1800–2540 dpi at 100% final size, saved as a black-and-white bitmap TIFF.
- Engravings that register to printing must be accompanied by a press sheet to ensure a close fit.
Brass, aluminum and magnesium dies
Machined dies in brass, aluminum or magnesium are cut directly from your paths, so the file has to be geometrically clean.
- Files must be in vector format.
- Remove all masks and compound paths.
- All text must be converted to outlines.
- Each shape must be closed and filled.
Sending by email
- Save your artwork as a PDF.
- Attach the PDF to an email addressed to art@beaverengraving.com.
Not sure the art will hold in metal?
Edges need to be very sharp to reproduce. Send it anyway — we'll look at it and let you know, and quote any clean-up before we start.
